Dr. Bob Uslander, MD, is the co-founder and medical director of Empowered Endings in San Diego, pioneering a compassionate, holistic approach to end-of-life care. With over 35 years of experience in emergency medicine, palliative care, and hospice, he leads the Empowered Endings Medical Group, supporting patients and their families. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois and a UCLA-trained physician, he is a passionate advocate, mentor, and adventurer in life.
Empowered Endings is dedicated to humanizing end-of-life care by filling gaps in the healthcare system without insurance constraints. Their team of doctors, nurses, doulas, and grief counselors provides in-home services like labs, IV fluids, Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD), and Voluntary Stopping of Eating and Drinking (VSED). Committed to restoring dignity, choice, and compassionate support, they offer medical care, counseling, education, and resources to patients, families, and healthcare providers navigating life’s final stages.

We had a terrific speaker, John Tastad from Sharp HealthCare, who will speak on bioethics and healthcare decision-making.
The Previous Annual Meeting was held on April 22, 2023
Our speaker was Dr. Faye Girsh. She gave us a delightful overview of the choices one has for a peaceful death. It was very interesting and discussed many options available and how far we still need to go to have more.
