UPCOMING EVENTS FOR THE SAN DIEGO MEMORIAL SOCIETY

Dana Kuhn

Dana Kuhn will be our upcoming speaker on April 25th, 2026.

Many people think of an obituary as a short notice announcing a death. In reality, a well-written obituary can become a meaningful tribute that captures a person’s character, relationships, and the story of a life well lived. Taking time to thoughtfully prepare an obituary can make a lasting difference for family members and for those who wish to remember and celebrate that life.

During this interactive workshop, Dana Kuhn of Lasting Reflection will guide participants through the process of developing an obituary, either for themselves as part of advance planning or for someone they love. He will share practical ideas for gathering memories, organizing key details, and shaping them into a narrative that feels genuine and personal.

Dana is known for his careful attention to detail and thoughtful approach to writing. Through guided questions and examples, he will help participants see how a well-crafted obituary can become something families read, share, and keep for years to come — a true lasting reflection of a life.

Come join us for a lively discussion and interesting workshop presentation!

Dr. Bob Uslander spoke in great detail about compassionate choice at the end of life.

There is a gap in the current healthcare system in caring for people at the end of life. Empowered Endings provides care to fill those gaps because we are not bound by insurance constraints. Our experienced doctors, nurses, doulas, and grief counselors work with your existing team of caregivers to provide care they are unable to provide, such as labs and IV fluids at home, or Medical Aid in Dying (MAID).

Dr. Faye Girsh

The Previous Annual Meeting was held on April 22, 2023

Our speaker was Dr. Faye Girsh. She gave us a delightful overview of the choices one has for a peaceful death. It was very interesting and discussed many options available and how far we still need to go to have more.
