When Death Occurs While Traveling – Transport Body or Cremains?

When you are a member of the San Diego Memorial Society you are covered while traveling within the United States.  That is because the San Diego Memorial Society is a member of the Funeral Consumers Alliance.

The goal of Funeral Consumers Alliance is to ensure consumers are fully prepared and protected when planning a funeral for themselves or their loved ones.

Transport Body or Send Back the Cremains?

The least expensive option, if you are traveling and death occurs, is to have the body cremated locally, rather than a having a body transfer by plane. Then have the cremains shipped back to a family member or mortuary. This saves the huge price of body transfer from one state to another or from overseas.

If you are traveling within the USA and you need body transfer or cremation  click here and then scroll down to the map of the USA for all of the sister organizations that participate with the San Diego Memorial Society who will take care of the body if you happen to pass away while outside of San Diego County.

If you are traveling within California here is the list of those mortuaries who can be of service.
